Friends and family from around the world came to witness Alexis and Claudio’s beautiful wedding ceremony at Hycroft Manor. Lady luck was kind to us as we warmed by the last glimpses of summer as blue skies and glimmers of sunlight served as the backdrop for this wonderful day. Friendship, love, and laughter (oh was there lots of laughter) resounded throughout the day, and made it memorable for everyone who was lucky to be a part of it!

Words can’t express how incredible it was to document Morgan and Zach’s wedding. We were all a bit worried at first as the morning brought some rain and grey clouds, but the weather gods, as if playing a joke, decided to be merciful and made the rain go away just in time for Morgan and Zach’s first look at Jericho Beach. It as a memorable moment to say the least, and the fact that we were the only ones there made it feel like we had the entire beach to ourselves!

The photoshoot that followed was a blast as their entire wedding party were so much fun to be around.  Afterwards we made our way to their wedding ceremony at the beautiful Brock House, where Zach and Morgan spoke their vows of love in a naturesque outdoor ceremony. Although it wasn’t sunny as we had originally hoped for, we were nonetheless welcomed by a gorgeous view of the surrounding waters and mountains of BC. Of course, what really made the ceremony, and the rest of the day, truly spectacular were all their family and friends that came to celebrate with them: their smiles, laughter, and tears of empathy and joy. The night finished on a high note with dancing and lots of it, and we even danced a bit ourselves as we were capturing some of the epic moments that unravelled.

Morgan and Zach, congratulations to you and thank you so much again for allowing us to be a part of your big day!

Our fall season started off with none other than Ben and Dana’s gorgeous wedding was celebrated at the wonderful Science World! We’ve heard many great things about this award winning venue and were glad to finally capture a real wedding there. Surrounded by an incredible view of False Creek and the romance of the sunset and city lights, it was the perfect background for this fun and energetic couple. We’ve found after all the weddings we’ve documented that if the bride and groom are cheerful and having a great time, so will everyone else . This was definitely the case for Ben and Dana as their guests bombarded them with laughter, applause, and high fives all throughout the night. So many wonderful moments were captured at this wedding, and the journey for these two is only just beginning.

Congratulations Ben and Dana for welcoming us into your beautiful celebration. We couldn’t be happier for you both!

I first met Alex around years ago when we were still students at UBC. My impression of him was that he was a smart and kind fellow with a knack for numbers. How right I was because he’s now an accountant! It wasn’t until almost a decade later that I bumped into him again at a friend’s wedding I photographed last summer. That was also the first time I met Anna as well, and I knew right away that they were a couple most definitely in love. Now, less than a year later, we had the privilege of capturing their sunny and beautiful wedding at the lovely UBC Botanical Gardens. Having seen so many amazing wedding photos taken at the Botanical Gardens, we were super excited to finally come here to document a wedding, and we couldn’t have asked for a more happier, friendly, and easygoing couple as these two.

The celebration continued right into the reception at the Radisson Hotel where more than 300 of their closest family and friends displayed an outpouring of friendship, joy and laughter towards the happy newly wed couple–and happy they were indeed. As Anna said to us after the wedding, what made the day so special was the fact that everyone they cared about could be there.

Congratulations Anna and Alex. I have no doubt in my mind that your future will shine as brightly as the sun did on your wedding day.

This year we had the privilege of photographing Vicky and Eric’s wedding in Edmonton! We had never travelled there before so it was great to visit another one of Canada’s major cities. The wedding was in April so, being from Vancouver, we were worried that it would be cold. Fortunately it wasn’t because of how sunny it was! That and because we shamelessly covered ourselves in winter gear from head to toe.

On a personal note, I had met Vicky years ago through her cousin, so when I got the call last year that she and Eric wanted us to come over to Edmonton, we felt so honored. and excited to travel for another wedding. The two of them got married in their home church where we saw some familiar faces from Vancouver including many new ones. Followed by a photoshoot at Winston Churchill Square, we proceeded to the exquisite Fairmont Hotel McDonald for their wedding reception, which we were told by many is the most beautiful hotel in Edmonton! Laughter, smiles, and tears of joy followed throughout the night, making this a wedding we’ll always remember. Congratulations Vicky and Eric and thanks again for bringing us along!

Brock House Wedding

The best weddings are always the ones where you get to spend them with friends and family, and I was incredibly lucky on 17th August this year to see one of my high school friends get married! The happy couple were surrounded by their friends and family, and it was also an amazing chance for me personally to catch up with an entire generation of my friends. Patrick and Shiho also had one very special guest there to see them become husband and wife: their gorgeous daughter Mila! You should be able to spot her cheeky grin in some of these photographs – she was an absolute dream to work with.

Brock House was the location for Patrick and Shiho’s wedding ceremony, and this is a place that I have wanted to photograph at for many years. The interior of the house is stunning, and the sunshine that greeted the friends and families of Patrick and Shiho perfected everything off nicely. Shiho’s parents travelled all the way from Japan to see their beautiful daughter married to the man of her dreams, and it was a really emotional and poignant ceremony. The reception was in a tent in the gardens of Brock House, and I got the chance to snap some lovely photographs of the families and friends enjoying themselves.

If there is one thing that stands out from Patrick and Shiho’s wedding, it is that the atmosphere was kept really relaxed and cheerful. Instead of frightening formal affair, it was much more like a festive celebration. There were not any speeches, and there was even a hilarious game where everyone was given a dollar, and a rock/paper/scissors tournament commenced! I had such a great time at Patrick and Shiho’s wedding, and as you can see from the smiles on everyone’s faces, I don’t think that I was the only one!
